New clyderider from the seattle area

Hello,

First, I want to comment on how great this site is. It's been a great resource so far.

I've started cycling for these reasons:

1) I'm training to climb Mt. Rainier and running isn't good on my clydesdale frame (6'2" 245lbs)
2) My pickup truck is aging fast and I don't want to replace it with another car
3) I was an auto mechanic for the better part of 10 years and I harbor a passionate hatred of cars
4) I like how simple bicycles are compared to other modes of transportation

My ride of choice is a 2006 Specialized Allez triple. The LBS gave me a deal on it and i'm sure it'll make for a nice commuter.

I'm also interested in bike mechanics. My project bike is a Specialized Allez M2 Comp. I'm unsure on what to turn it into.

Thanks again for the great site!

Welcome to the site. I'm relatively new here myself--just over the mountain from you in Cle Elum. There's also a Pacific Northwest Thread on here that you should introduce yourself on.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Be sure to check in in Clyde's as well.

There are at least a couple Clyde's in your area.

What part of the Seattle area are you in?

There are a number of Clydes here locally, and they are all very nice folks!

Welcome to BF!
