From Indianapolis..the breathless rider

Hello, newbie commuter....34 y/o female in indianapolis.

Riding a simple Trek 50 and a Specialized hardrock blue MTB. Looking for a vintage cruiser or Schwinn.

New to bike commuting, since May 2007. Still figuring out bike equipment, clothing, etc, but I'm getting there! 6-10 mile round trip from work to home.

Breathless, literally, due to a nasty pulmonary disease called pulmunary sarcoidosis, so bike riding/commuting is my pulmonary rehabilitation. I really "suck wind" in the cold, but cold weather riding is not that bad.

My coworkers think I'm nuts, my spouse is supportive, and my pulmonologist tells me to keep on riding.

I've lost weight, gained muscle and increased lung capacity, and plan to maybe do a century (RAIN 2008) later on in July.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Thanks for the replies! I live very close to down town (near Fall Creek), so there is no excuse for me not to ride...well, except for the nasty stomach bug I have today......

Hello sarcbiker, I am glad to hear that you are working on regaining your lung capacity, and it's wonderful that you can do it via cycling .

Good luck in your search for a vintage Schwinn cruiser--come on over to the Classic & Vintage forum and talk to us here.

Welcome to BF!

Yes, I am. I rode this past Sunday..the coldest day here so far in Indianapolis to work. Co-workers scolded me badly.....my lungs felt it, but I did it.
