Bike Forums - Hi from Corrales NM

Missed this intro section

Hi all! Corrales to some is just Albuquerque or Rio Rancho NM but really has been a working for a long time . A former farming village that is no more, now a place to build .7 acre house on 1 acre lot. Still has a strong cycling comunity and residents drive slow enough and do not throw bottles at you!

I just commute as much as possible to work up the hill, some long rides on the weekend and at least climb the Sandia Crest once a year. Not really a member of any club here but I have a couple of buddies that whip my ass all the time. Two kids and other obligations (we have too many horses) prevent me from being form-fitted in the avid/enthuasiastic cyclist category.

I do hope to at least complete the Santa Fe Century this year and the other nice rides that New Mexico clubs has to offer!

BTW road bike and even for long rides I use my fixed and track bikes 90% of the time -- I do have a mountain bike and even a BMX bike as my son races (took a break during the fall). Not really up on the road bike technology (I just got an aluminum Trek) but I do care about the pedals and the shoes... and have relatively new versions of those.

Lived in Vermont and Minn so I learned free heel and XC ski in those places and miss those activities here.

BTW New Mexico is actually in the USA. You won't believe the number of people who think it is another country. The atomic bomb was developed in Los Alamos NM and tested here too which could be the reasons for aliens in Roswell which is here too!
