Greetings

I'm from the South East of England originally, now living in London. I started riding when I was a kid with my Dad and brother, out and about in the glorious Kent countryside but managed to fall out of the saddle during my twenties when I moved to London - where the pleasure is somewhat diminshed. But am now resolved to get back in the habit.

I've had a Geoff Wiles bike since 1991 (for those of you who don't know of him, Geoff was an English champion racer in the 70s and opened a shop in Strood in Kent in the 80s). It's a lovely bright red Reynolds 531 frame with 501 forks and pretty basic Shimano EXAGE groupset (not the prettiest) and a biopace crank. After having nearly spoilt myself with a new bike in the past few years I finally decided I'd be happier renovating what I already have so am getting a respray and upgrading the spec with some NOS campagnolo parts from the late 80s early 90s. I may need to ask some advice from some of you when it comes to sticking it together...

Hello plumbleboy, I know that the folks at the Classic & Vintage forum would LOVE to see photos of your bike, and they'd also be happy to help you with that upgrade .

Welcome to BF!

Hello

I see you're from Kent too... albeit a different Kent about 5 thousand miles west from me! And yes, you're right, I should get some pics up on the site very soon. (not quite sure how to do that but will work it out I'm sure...) Worth documenting the whole process methinks.

My Kent is named after the one in England! Uses the same white horse and all .

I'm originally from Swinton, Lancashire, though .

Yes, documenting the whole process would be a brilliant idea!
