Hello from Richmond, VA

Hi -
My name is Chris and I live in Richmond,VA. I am active in my local MTB club: R.A. MORE. I am a frequent poster on our local forums: http://www.cyclingcentralva.org/forums/

I love to ride bikes but I have been in a bit of a slump in the last year or so.

I also like woodworking and fishing. I worked in the woodworking industry as a High end Cabinet maker for 10 years before I started working with AutoCAD and GIS software. Now I make Maps for my job at VCU in Richmond.

Some of my other passions are the RED SOX, Bourbon, and Micro brews.

Hi Chris, we will do out best to re-motivate you to get out there and ride . But if not, well, at least we will probably entertain you, and you may learn a few interesting stray facts, too!

Have any photos of your cabinetry skills? My great grandfather was a master cabinet maker in Lancashire, England.

Welcome to BF!

East Hill

I'll have to look for some photos - Most of the really good stuff was done 10 years ago when I was working in the shop. Now its just lots of home improvment stuff.

Oh, and maps are also interesting. My husband loves maps, he will spend hours just admiring them!

Welcome to BF CBChess. Neat to see a GIS person here. I specialized my Environmental Engineering degree in cartographic skills, photogrammetry and the early computer mapping. I need to take some courses at the local university in GIS to get back in the swing. Too much time as a Civil Engineer now to remember a whole lot other than drafting skills. Make sure you visit the regional forums for rides and get togethers in your area of Virginia.

I missed them! I went out for lunch and they had just finished when I got back -
it was actually my department that was in charge of them at VCU- I had to make the maps for the siren tests and testing station locations.

I used to ride ALL the time at lunch - work very close to monroe park and I would do the whole JRPS loop at lunch - north bank trail to the nickel bridge, Buttermilk heights,Buttermilk,Belle Isle then back to my office. I could get 10 miles in of great trails in about an hour.

I am am a bit out of shape now so I need to build my base strength back up.

are you riding the trails or road bikes?
