Full-time Cyclist in Montreal (weather permitting)

Hi,

I have rediscovered cycling 7 years ago. Today, cycling has become a lifestyle for me and my girlfriend. We are definitely not sports cyclists. Our average speed is 16km/h when riding together, and 22 km/hr when I ride solo. In 2007, I biked 6,875km and my girldfriend a bit over 2,500km. Bikes go everywhere we go (they are easier to maintain than pets ). We own 4 bikes between the two of us, two of which we brought back from the Netherlands (Gazelle Medeos, which I commonly refer to as our urban assault bikes) on our last Bike & Boat vacation there.

We love biking and the cyclist community so much that we started our own Bike & Boat Vacation company, which will start operating next May out of Montreal. This we are doing just so that we can spend more time with the community we have come to love so much.

Looking forward to read all your stories and learn from your experiences,
Ron

Welcome to the forums. I love Montreal. I'll check out your bike and boat venture--do you have a website?

Here is one shot of the two Gazelle's with a famous Canadian City in the background... The bikes are in Cycletours Holland (www.cycletours.com) red livery.

The second pic shows off some of the nice features of the bike, all standard gear, with the exception of the map holder, which I find very handy, if not very aerodynamic. The second picture was taken at the Old St-Maurice Forge historical site in Trois-Rivieres.

I feel it will be a while until we see bikes like those on North American streets, although from a couple of threads I saw on the forum, they are coming...

Cheers,
Ron
