    Hello from downunder.

Hi everyone, I have been into cycling since 1999. Yeah I had a bike or three when I was a kid, but I didn't ever get around to racing track, road or BMX bikes.
Since rediscovering cycling I have mainly ridden on the road. I started out with an entry level CU92aluminium Giant in 1999. It was a OCR3 with 8spd Shimano Sora. I bought a better bike in 2001. This was a 7005 aluminium, DiamondBack DBR PodiumPro with carbon forks and 9spd Shimano Ultegra... which I never liked... the Ultegra that is.
I moved onto a full carbon Diamondback DBR PodiumPro in 2006. This came with Campagnolo 10spd Centaur, which I absolutely love. It was an old model being run out cheap through eBay.
Late last year I bought a Pinarello Opera, which is actually an Opera Canova that has been rebadged. (The Opera bikes never took off in Australia! Neither has the MOst compact cranks they whack on them) I had this bike built up with Centaur as well.

Anyway, I have just picked up a few old frames to do up and hang in my shed... which is a better deal for them than the old frames that are scattered around my garden as ornaments.

Anyway... one of the bike frames I just picked up is a Peugeot racer of some vintage which I don't know... and that is how I came by the Bike Forums site. I was chasing model information and my Google searching kept throwing Bike Forums up.

    So...

'Twas Deano Wells of Ballarat that caught the cycling craze,
he bought himself a cheap old Peugeot that had seen better days,
he flipped the bike, and squinted hard as he sought the serial number,
then gasped when he found the digits, for the code was asunder.

"What's this?" he cried in dismay, "What does it all mean?",
how would he ever interpret the ID on his new old machine?,
he Googled 'Peugeot' but his savior stuck out like a sore thumb,
the best advice that could be found came from Bike Forums.

OK guys, that was painful... even for me!

Anyway... the stamp on my Peugeot BB case is - RY K4
and the digits on the BB serial number plaque are - 179 116

The head badge is the plastic type apparently from the 1970's and the frame has Aztec lugs.
No other original markings or colours on the frame that I can find as the frame has been repainted.

This information on the bike is like a little teaser for us all. I'll get a proper thread happening with all the other details like shifters, derailleurs, etc., etc. in the near future.

    Until then, ride hard!

    -Deano

Hi Deano, you might want to put the Peugeot info over in the Classic & Vintage forum, where many people will hasten to help you ID your bike. Photos are mandatory in C & V. Don't show up there unless you bring photos .

    Anyway, Welcome to BF!

Bring it on Deano! We love pictures of old bikes and bits in C & V.
The search for inner peace continues...

My Peugeot frame can now be seen in C & V!!!

I have worked out how to use Photobucket, and I've listed all the info and pics to the Classic and Vintage forum.

The title is Is this bike a mid to late seventies Peugeot AO8?
Well I think that's what I titled it!

Oh by the way, its the thread with the massive pictures!

No such thing as too many photos for the C & V crowd .
