New Bike Recommendations!

HI All,

I have a 1984 Nishiki Sport hanging in the garage, but it has seen little use in recent years. At 71 years and counting, however, I'm looking for an updated and a little more comfortable ride. My basic rides are quite limited, fitness directed mainly, along the local river bike paths around Orange County. I am reasonably fit, only 2-3 lbs over my college weight (155 lbs), when I played varsity soccer in college in England. Some of the weight has been re-distributed, however! I do not plan on doing any mountain biking.

The Trek Bike Path 7000 Series seems to me an attractive hybrid, offering a blending of comfort, style and flexibility, at a reasonable price. I am looking specifically at the 7100 or the 7300 models, here at Jax Bicycle center in Long Beach, CA.

Anyone have opinions on these Trek models that might help me decide?? Comments pro or con would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Ron.

I have had the 7100FX and it was a great bike. Had to change it to someting more sturdier because of my size (190 cm) and weight (85kgs). In general I would recommend it based on price/quality. Do change the saddle since the standard bontrager approved saddle is not very good. I opted for a Brooks Flyer with springs and that made the bike ultra comfortable.
