Hello from Georgia

I just found this forum today. I am so glad i found it.
My history:
Two years ago I signed up for a Century with the Team in Training, to get me off my lazyboy, and fell in love with cycling. Problem for me was after the century I quit riding, nobody to ride with and no goal to ride for. Over the last couple months my wife and I rode on a Mt. Bike trail at Ft. Yargo State park and had a ball. This week my wife told me that if I sold my Harley she would buy a bike and start riding with me, she used to run but has some hip and foot problems because of her feet. We got her bike Monday at Apalachee cycle in Dacula, Georgia, it is where I got my bike from, and went for a ride. Now we just need to find a joint goal ride to train for.

We work together running a photography studio and live in Northeast, Georgia - near Athens.

I ride a Trek 1000 and my wife got a Trek 1.2. Years ago, 18 or 19, we rode Jamis Explorer Mt. Bikes which we still have and use on the trail and when we go to the beach.

Wish us luck!
Anyone wanna buy a Harley :)

Welcome to the board from someone just over the border. This is an extremely helpful site as far as bike knowledge & rides to go on & meet some people. Please be prepared for your typical amount of sarcasim that is found on any message board, but for the most part people are really helpful!

I think that it is great that your wife wants to ride with you. There are so many great sites that I have never noticed riding by at 35-40 mph with my radio blarring and my head filled with all the usual stress; that I was amazed how much cool stuff I noticed when I was forced to pedal by at 18 mph. There are some great centuries coming up in your area, so get motivated and get signed up!

Thank you.
We are close, we also have a lake house in Anderson, SC - it is about 70 miles from us.
I am just looking for a reasonable amout of time for training for a Century, a lot of them are coming up really soon and I think we will need till late June or so to be ready.

Good luck with your goal for the century! Porter20 is right, this is a very helpful and friendly site, remembering that there's always a few cranky folks who just don't get enough coffee early in the morning :) .

Visit the Southeast Regional forum and say hi to the locals--you might even find someone who wants to buy a Harley!

Welcome to BF!
