Hello from Upstate NY

Hey folks,

I;m new to this forum and thought i should say hi. Been riding for about 15-20 years, mostly Mt with a few years of roady fun nd the more I ride and read, the more I learn how little I actually know. Spent about 10 years on Long Island, NY exploring all the trails there. There some very good ones. My wife is and avid biker as well - in fact riding actually saved her life, alerting her to her breast cancer before her mammogram caught it. Needless to say, my best rides have all been with her. We've been on a riding hiatus for about 9 months now due to school, moving, life etc and it stinks! Can't wait to get back this Spring. We are looking at celebrating the end of the year with a new set of wheels, something we can commute on. Scott Sub something maybe or any of its usual competition - Cannondale, Kona or Jamis.

Cheers to all and many, many happy miles.

Hi mg5904, what a great story about your wife. I take it that she is doing well? Nine months is far too long to go without riding--uck!

What part of upstate NY would that be?

Welcome to BF!

East Hill

Hello East Hill, eXCeSS,

Thanks for the welcome. Wife is doing spectacularly well, thank you and yes, 9 months w/o riding is driving us nuts! Way too long and really don't suggest anyone try it.

We are currently living in Schoharie County a bit west of Albany. Very rural and very pretty with roads that seem perfect riding. It will be nice when (if?) Spring comes around and we can get some free time. eXCeSS, I do have a question about mountain bike trails around here. I have made some general inquiries about where we might go but have not had any solid responses. Any suggestions? People mention the Pine Bush and Saratoga/Clifton Park but is there anything else nearby? back on L.I. we had a real nice set of trails w/i 20-25 minutes of home and some spectacular ones if you were willing to drive for 1.5-2.hours.

Been having a bunch of problems with the site tonight so not sure if this will get posted.

Thanks again for the welcome.

P.S. forgot to mention that I ride a Rocky Mountain ETSX with some aftermarket parts added. Lovely bike. We've bonded.

Welcome! This site is a great place for info on bike and other.

And I'm trying to put this in too, cause there seems to be a problem --- but no worries - wrinkles are ironed out very nicely here.
