Another Minnesotan

Hi I'm a school teacher from MN. I like to mtn. bike, and tour. I used to commute year round, but I moved farther out of town so I could get more sleddogs,(I also run a dogsled team) so now I just commute during the warmer months. I have a Kona Cindercone that seems to work alright for off road and touring, but would like to get a touring specific bike someday. I also have a Redline singlespeed for winter use. My longest tour so far is about 1,600 miles in a loop out to Montana and back. I really enjoy going off road along the MN, Ontario border near my cabin. So far I've seen seven timberwolves on my travels. I found this forum a couple of weeks ago and have enjoyed it. I'm not that fast of a rider, but can still go a long way----Ike---

I'm not usually a member of the Welcome Wagon, but I make an effort for folks from MN.

Which lake is the cabin on?

Crane Lake--I noticed that you were from the Range- Where about? My Dad is an old goalie, and we all grew up playing the game.

In the general vicinity of Ely (that's as detailed as I'm getting on a public board) I played in my youth as well.

FINALLY! Another person with a dogsled!!!! There's actually another cyclist I know who runs dogs, but I don't think he's online. I'm just a recreational sledder, with non-traditional dogs. I'm actually in a bad dog place right now, with one geriatric dog, one young dog with dysplasia, and a puppy who will never sled. So my sledding days may be over for a while.

So, how far up north do you live? I'm down in the cities, but my cabin is at Mille Lacs...

Oh! and WELCOME!!!

Although I have a cabin near the Canadian Border where I spend most of my summers, I actually live just west of the cities. I own a hobby farm just off the Luce Line near the Hennipen/Carver County Border. I now have eight Alaskan Huskies which are pretty amazing animals. For a cheap thrill in the spring I'll hook up three to my Redline Monocog and go much faster that I have a right to on level ground.

I've sledded on luce line! I remember having to buy a dogsled pass to use it.
