    50+ newbie

    hello:
I just bought my new Trek Navigator 3.0 bike and I love it.
However, i''ve been sedentary (lazy) for nearly 20 years,
so i need to take it slow.

I'm slow riding every morning for about an hour.

    Howdy.

Sounds like a good idea, taking it easy to start that is.

    Have fun with it.

I think you'll find the Navigator great for getting into better shape. I spent the last year and a half doing about an hour a day on an older Navigator 400 (90's ventage) and it did me a lot of good.

Spin the pedals in a lowish gear for the first five minutes of riding. As you legs get stronger from the cycling, you should do a few exercises to strengthen the upper body and stomach muscles. Dont have to do anything strenuous but it will make you feel more comfortable on the bike. It will also be more comfortable if you have the bars adjusted so your weight is over the pedals rather than pushing straight down on the saddle. The main aim is to enjoy yourself - fitness and pereformance will follow, although you will always want to go a little faster.

    Hello,
Just bought a new '07 Felt Z70 and hope to get back into shape after many years away from riding.
This is my first real road bike and can't wait to take it for a spin.
