Greetings from Iowa City

I'm Jesse from Iowa City, Iowa. I'm 24 and recently graduated college from the U of I, last May. I mainly ride a fixed gear...and old fuji with 48x16 gearing. This Saturday I'm getting a Surly Steamroller with 48x17 gearing, brakeless. I live car free and it rules. I wouldn't say that my life is entirely car-free as I do get rides with people occasionally to places out of town or whatever. But I don't own a car. I actually tried it out for about 2 or 3 months and hated it...too much responsibility, too much to worry about, too much money wasted on gas and maintenance. So there you have it. Live the simple life.

Zim Zam?!

Welcome Jesse. I know we have at least one other member here that lives in Iowa City. Congrats on the new Surly.

Thanks, it's the wave of the future...although I feel cars can be a good thing we just haven't found the answer in terms of the right fuel yet.

Jordan, what do you study at the U?

Hi Jesse, I see you have already found your way around the board--very cool! It's always nice to see someone who is car free. I am not car free, but I do try and do most of my local movements on my bikes.

Welcome to BF!
