Hi there, riding from Long Beach to San Luis Obispo, CA

Join Date: May 2008

I'm new to the site, and I am planning on riding from Long Beach to San Luis Obispo on Highway 1
starting on May 11th.
Here's a link to the route map I have planned out so far.

(I know it looks like a ridiculous link but it works)

I have a Schwinn World Sport 10 speed right, with bent rims. I'm thinking about fixing it to a one speed
before the trip, although I know one speeds aren't advised for long distance. Either way, I would appreciate any help on how to fix to one speed, or just how to fix the rims and bike before May 11th.

Well, it looks as if you have found the SoCal forum! What do you mean by 'fixing the rims'? Are they out of true?

If you really want to fix to one speed, just stay in one gear. There's undoubtedly someone who could 'fix' the World Sport to a SS/FG, but it would cost more than the bike is worth, and it would probably take longer than a week unless you have all the parts just sitting around waiting to go on a bike.

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !
