Newbie with a new bike

What's up everyone out there in the cycling world? I have just made the recent decision to be a biking commuter and give gas prices (and my beer belly) the finger! I did a lot of research and a lot of threads here on the forum have given me tons of info. I tell ya, being a noob and trying to find a good bike on your own is very overwelming lol I just picked up a 2001 Specialized HardRock Sport mountain bike for $190 shipped on ebay. Ordered a Ascent M-12 Sport Helmet, BOR YUEH REAR RACK, Ascent waterproof Rack Trunk, Kryptonite Tough Locking Chain, and the SKS 60mm ATB Full Fender Set from Nashbar with the nifty coupon codes for 20% off I found here as well

I plan on getting a rear hub motor setup with a 36v 10ah lithium-ion lifePO4 battery for my tougher trips. Can someone help me out with what tires I should get and where to get them? Some good semi slicks that would hold well in wet conditions is what I need. Oh and puncture resistance would also be a plus. My rims are Y2000/559x20. I'm not so sure what that means lol millimeters maybe?

c'ya around!

Hi reptilian, you are definitely off to a good start with the commuting setup. Unfortunately, I can't give you much in the way of effective advice for the e-bike part of your question. Try asking that bit in the E-bike forum--those guys are the experts!

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !
