Back to the basics..
i'm back to the world of BMX after 9 years. i recently started a project on my daily driver car (custom turbo) and decided to pick up a BMX for my 3 mile commute. i've ridden pretty much everything out there (road/mountain/bmx) in the past and decided i like the idea of a smaller "lightweight" bike rather than a heavy mountainbike or expensive roadbike.
so i did a dumb thing. i bought a Target bike. a Tony Hawk (lol, doesn't he skate, not bike? i asked the salesman at the store "what's tony hawk doing making BMX bikes?" to which he replied "he's making money!"). anyway, the bike was plain horrible. it was a good concept, 3 piece crank, gyro brake components, nice looking, but was 38Lbs, which i shaved down to 36 by dumping the pegs/reflectors/chainguard. the tire sidewalls were soft, and i pinched 3 tubes in the 2 months i rode it.
anyway (thankfully?) it was stolen a week ago and sold to a guy who works down the street from me (and it's not worth my life to go get it back, he's one of those "kill you for looking at him" ghettofab a-holes).
wow, i'm typing a lot.. let me wrap this up. i just purchased a BlackEye Drifter today from danscomp and am looking forward to modding it, probably frame first once i can afford it.
glad to be here!
