I'm an avid cyclist who is adapting to country living ... gravel roads ... 50km commute ... trail riding , etc. I just sold my beloved Opus Scherzo road bike and bought myself a lovely Rocky Mountain Trailhead with a spare set of slicks for my 50k commute.
It's that 50k commute that had me stumped until recently. I was waffling between a mountain bike, a cyclo-cross and a touring (I never had any kind of luck with hybrids, so they were out). The road bike just was not cutting it on the gravel roads... and I have about 10k of gravel before I get to the asphalt .
So it was after much analysis, that I decided to buy the mtn bike for the following reasons: 1) I will use the bike to run our Jack Russell everyday; 2) I will ride it on the trails in our area on the weekends; 3) It's the perfect excuse to go take that mtn bike course again . And I made the following deal with myself: if I can get my butt on my new bike and ride the 100k round trip at least once a week, I will reward myself next year with a new cyclo-cross... got my eyes on an Opus Sentiero
