Re-introduction

I'm alive I'm aliiiiiive! Whoa..everything looks different! I haven't been around in what feels like so long that I thought I should kind of start over.

When I returned from the Hotter'N Hell ride this summer, I was in rehearsals for a performance that went up in October. I hopped on the bike to map out a route to rehearsals since I knew I would have to commute or not ride at all. That was the last time I got on it! Having rehearsals for several hours a day will do that to ya. Right, so now I've decided that was my last performance (or so I say). I think it's a sign when you have to consult your joints and see which one you have to baby before the curtain goes up. Me no likee dancee no more. I've also moved AGAIN and gotten engaged since the show, so I've made every excuse not to drag myself out to a ride. Hopefully after work today I will get my butt moving! Just as it's easy to get out of a routine, once I make myself go for a ride it's easy to get back into it. I just have to GO.

The fiance says our first big purchase will be a bike for him. I think he's pretty nifty.

I guess I'm off to see what you bike geeks have been up to! Post me a link to anything interesting if you please Hope you all had a good Turkey Day!

G'morning and thanks!

I would certainly post a pic of us if I could remember how! As for a pic of the bike, he seemed to like the Specialized Sequoya. Sequoaya. Whatever. That one! Until I re-figure out how to post pics, you'll all have to go to the website to drool It looked nice and comfortable. He doesn't want to race or anything; he just wants to ride with little ol' me

And I DID ride last night! Finally. Only about 10 miles, but it was enough to get me interested again.

Yesterday I ended up not having enough time to go snoop around on you guys, so NOW I'm off to see what's been going on

Harrrr harrrrr I just realized bac made a dirty funny

Dude, it's good to know I'm doing some good in the world! The performance went really well- a bunch of original modern dance choreographies heavily influenced by ballet and latin dance. It got good reviews, except for one really stupid comment about there not being enough 'sexual tension'! Do HUH? Funny, I didn't realize people went to professional dance performances to get their kicks that way.

The fiance is someone I met online a while back. We talked as just friends for a long time, and met in person when he happened to be stopping in Memphis with a convoy from Ft. Sill to Ft. Knox. And now here we are! I'll be moving near Ft. Sill, OK in a few months which means I'm sure that, if not both of us, I will be at HHH since it will be less than an hour away!

It also means I won't be joining up with Uncle Sam's team. I was seriously considering it, but I wouldn't want us both to be in the military. Also, he's got some rank, so if we're going to be told what to do and where to go it may as well be on his salary and not on the paltry one I would be making!

Am I rambling a bit? I think I am. Hey how's 1OldRoadie these days?

edit- oh yeah! No big rides planned for any time soon, but I see that being a big part of any 'getaways' we do since it doesn't cost all that much!

Hey Nat,

Keep doing some good in the world. Uh, I didn't know people went to professional dance performances for some "sexual tension" either. They may have gotten your performance confused.

WOW a real life web romance. I thought that only happened on the websites and in trashy supermarket magazines. The military will offer you a good life since he has some rank and you are making a wise choice by just one of you on the team. Good luck with all that and I hope you get in some good riding on the base if that is going to your new home. It sounds like you might have some free time on your hands for awhile.

Riding is a getaway and the only cost it incurs is time and health.

Thanks, Dude and Rob!

I'm trying to find info on the Wichita Mountains Cycling Club which is in the Lawton/Ft. Sill area, but all the links I try to go to say "I don't have permission to view" or something. What the heck? The emails addresses don't even work, but I know the club still exists. I guess I'll have to track them down the next time I go there.

The reason why is because the website is no longer working.... It was with www.ionet.net/~mjl but that is owned by earthlink now... You might have to call them "Wichita Mountains Bicycle Club" and see if they have a new site..

-Dude

P.S. This site has some reference to them: https://www.12milesofhell.com/

Thanks! But apparently there is no longer an organized club. I went there for the holidays and asked around at the bike shops. People stopped showing up so they stopped organizing rides. You can join a yahoogroup, though, and say, "Hey I'm going riding on such and such day. Wanna go?" It seems there is always someone willing to go, so that's alright. I guess if I want to go on a big ride I can drive to Wichita Falls or OKC. Just FYI for others who may be in the area...

Now let's see if I can post this. It says I'm logged in, but when I try to post it says 'you must log in' or whatever. GRRRRR!
