Hi folks. I'm new here and just wanted to say hi. I live in a small town in Tennessee. The town doesn't even have a red light. Just stop signs. I'm 54 (as of the 16 of May) and I'm looking to start riding a bike again. One thing that I wanted to do different is this... I wanted to put a 4 stroke engine kit on the bike. Does anyone here do that type of stuff? Or is this board for "pure" cyclist only? I hope not because I would love to have someone to talk to about it. I don't have a bike yet but I'm trying to save up to buy the bike and the engine kit. The bike I want will cost me about $112 and the engine kit will cost $324 (plus shipping). Sounds like a lot more when I type it out

Not sure how many around here have strapped a gas engine to their bikes. There have been some talk about electronic assist kits though. Good luck with the project.

Ron always cuts to the chase!
There probably are a few people who put motors on their bikes, and I suspect that they show up in the AltBike forum. Not many of us do gas motors, but there are a fair number who go with the electronic assist e-bikes.

The website doesnt say anything about the weight of that kit. I think you will need something a lot sturdier than a $112 bike to mount the motor. It might be difficult to fit in a lot of standard frame shapes. The illustrated example on the website only has a single pedal gear which would be a problem when you dont want to use the motor. I have seen quite a lot of electric assisted bikes. I am trying to persuade my wife to get one so we can ride together. I think this makes a lot more sense as the lack of noise with the electric is more suitable for riding with a leg powered cyclist.

Hi again everyone,
I can see that this is not the place for a motorized bike conversation. But that's ok. Nothing to be upset about. I appreciate the posts that everyone made and I thank you for your responses. In between the time I posted here and now, I found a site for motorized bikes. The site is: https://www.motoredbikes.com/
