Hello and thanks for having me

Greetings all,

Name is Ron and I've been lurking around soaking up all the knowledge I can around here and thought it time to say hi. My interest in biking was one that would come and go, but these past three years I've stuck with it and I'm taking it more seriously, that is, I've made bicycling a regular part of my life. Years ago I used to ride bikes or all types without knowing anything about proper sizing, gearing, frame material etc. I'd ride 3 speeds, older 10 or 12 speed Ross' and Cannondale's borrowed from friends and some fixies. Now that I'm pushing 40 I'm looking more towards a combination of speed and comfort.

All of my riding has been on mountain bikes that I've upgraded with semi-slicks, and some other odds and ends, like fenders and different combinations of bars. I have a short commute to work each day-less than two miles-but at least twice a week I take out one of the bikes for a 25 mile ride. So far the MTB have served me well but I'm looking more at some touring bikes and other options so I can start doing about 20+ miles per day. Thanks for having me and I appreciate all the advice I will be hitting you up for.

Hi Ron, where have you been lurking? Anywhere in particular, or have you just been enjoying flitting from forum to forum?

What other bikes have you been looking at? Oh, and where are you located?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

Thanks again. Some other forums I frequent is mtbforums, mostly for the reviews, and I also like reading the journals on crazyguyonabike.com, I have a passing interest in touring and hope to make a cross-country ride some day. Just don't have the time to pull something like that off any time soon.

Right now I live in the Boston area. I've been looking at some touring or commuter bikes for longer rides and a slightly faster ride than my MTB w/slicks. I also started looking that the 29'ers to see if they would be a good alternative to a road bike for commuting. Lot's of good info on this site and it will take me a while to soak it all in.

A lot of people really enjoy crazyguyonabike, especially the touring fans! There is indeed quite a bit of good information here, and some great folks to be met along the way .
