New Pennsylvanian

Hello everyone.

Just retired to the New Oxford, PA area and I'm ready to pick up, maybe not quite where I left off some 35 years ago with my bright yellow Panasonic 10-speed, but nevertheless ready to ride. The Panasonic has gone its way and I'm putting together a new Schwinn Point Beach. Also have just purchased a very used Miyata Triplecross. Look forward to the forum.

Hi Don, the Triplecross sounds like quite a bike! Your Point Beach looks as if you like the retro style . As Zorro says, your soul-mates are in the Classic & Vintage forum, so come on over and check us out .

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

Easy Hill,

Turns out that the Miyata is nice, is not THAT used and it is an absolute joy to ride. It is my first whack at a triple crank and I"m still trying to figure what the theory is on gear progression.

Oh, let's see some photos then!

I know that somebody more mechanically inclined than I can explicate gear progression. I normally deal with either 10 or 12 speeds, so I am not the person to ask!

Welcome to the forums! (I'm from PA as well.) You may want to check in to the Lancaster (County) Covered Bridges Metric Century in August. There's a thread about it in the Regional Discussions / Northeast forum. It's a great ride, and several dozen people from Bike Forums usually show up.

Thanks, I'll check that out. In a couple of weeks, I'm going to check out the Northern Central & York County Heritage Trail. Any experience on it?
