New Guy on the Block
Hi All,
Rediscovered active cycling about a year ago. I currently ride an early 80's Motobecane Mirage Sport with a few minor modifications (was given some 700x25 wheels and added Look imitation pedals).
Completed my first Century on my 50th birthday a week ago, it felt good (road from Vancouver to Yale). Thinking about riding to work (30 km one way) but we have no showers in the office, so I will have to work something out.
I am also thinking about either upgrading my bike or buying a new (or new used) one. My current bike puts to much weight on my wrists (my right hand was numb for 4 days after the century) and I need some lower gears. For a new bike I am considering a Soma Smoothie ES, I have not priced anything yet but I would guess as far as new bikes are concerned a bike built from the frame out like a Soma would cost more than pre-built bile like a Trek.
Regards, Rick

Your Motobecane looks to be in lovely shape. Have you shared photos with the Classic & Vintage folks yet? We will do our best to persuade you to stay with classic steel .
