I am originally from Michigan. I now live in Knoxville, TN. I have always wanted to get into road biking. However in Michigan you need a mountain bike to just ride on the roads. My wife and I have been in Knoxville for three years. Last week I sold my mountain bike. Yeasterday I bought a 1998 Bianchi Trofeo. This is by know means a great bike, but a good one to get started with. My first job was at Assenmacher's bike shop in Grand Blanc, MI. Matt Assenmacher runs a great organization. I have actually been around bike shops my whole life. My uncle used to own Kings Bikes and Things in Rochester, MI. Thanks to him I always had a new Schwinn. I look forward to riding on the smooth roads in Knoxville. I do not look forward to the hills. I need to get rid of some of the belly fat anyway. I owm my own Insurance agency specilizing in health and life insurance. This has given an opportuntiy to get more involved in the community. My local bike shop( West Bicycles in Farragut, TN ) has done a great job keeping me informed on all the local rides. Thank Farris. I can't wait for them to make my lungs bleed!!!

Hello prattlake, it sounds as if you are really looking forward to getting back to cycling (well, except for the hilly part). You are fortunate for having a really good LBS close to hand, too.
