Hello from Chicago
Hello from Chicago. I have been searching for a new bike and ran into this forum. A lot of good information here and hopefully I can contribute to it. A little about myself is in order. I am a bicycle patrol officer for the Chicago Police Department and have been riding patrol all year round in the downtown area (Cabrini Green) for the last four years. I ride an older Trek mountain bike (model unknown) and ride with 4 partners at any given time. I am currently off work and recovering from surgery from an on duty related accident (bike related). Hopefully when I get clearance to return to work, I will start my journey into the world of bicycle commuting. I look forward to my stay here

Welcome to the forum! I gotta admire you guys, I don't know how you ride around all day with all that stuff on your bike! Nice way to stay fit and keep up with the lifestyle though, combining your job with a fun activity. Errr, how much fun it is remains to be seen, maybe I just don't see the "job" side of it!

Hi Biker43, there are a few other LEOs here, and I think there's a few who are mounted on bikes as well--including one chap in England . We are always happy to have the 'other point of view', and I like to think it helps both our community, and lets the LEOs know how cyclists think and feel.
