Hello from Shawnee KS.

My name is Allen AKA (Baboo) I am 63, semi retired and have been biking since 1988. I currently have 4 bikes in order of their age oldest first. Specialized Rockhopper, Cannondale R500, Rans Stratus, and Bike Friday New World Tourist folding bike. I sometimes commute to work about 9 miles one way, I use my bikes for shopping using a trailer or panniers. Shawnee Ks is a suburb of Kansas City, right in the heart of the midwest and in this part of the country any type of biking other than for recreation is quite unusual , actually most of my friends think I am just nuts, I asked Phyllis (my wife) for a second opinion and she agrees with them.
My touring experience consist of about 5 trips of 200 miles each on the KATY trail and one trip from Natchez, MS to Tupelo, Ms on the Natchez Trace Parkway.
I do most of my own bike repair and modifications. It,s nice to have someplace to go like this where my bicycling habits are more the norm. Every time I get on one of my bikes It's and adventure for me and I thoroughly enjoy reading about others adventures and experience concerning bicycling.

Thanks for being here
Baboo

Welcome Baboo,

I am about an hour south of you. I plan on doing some touring on the Katy and have read about the Natchez Trace. I am originally from the Baton Rouge area and would like to get down south someday. You will find lots of useful information on the boards. If you ever get down this way give me a shout.

Hello Baboo, people may think you're nuts now, but when they can't fill up their petrol tanks, they will reluctantly come to the conclusion that you were a man ahead of his time .

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !
