New to the fold
Hello all, I'm new here looking to get into biking. I came across the site whilst Googling to brush up on biking know-how. I've done some biking in the past, but haven't owned a bike in about 10 years, and never knew a lot about parts and maintenance. I'm a 27 year old rugby player, so my time off the field is spent training or with my girlfriend and dog. My girl wants to get some more fitness exercise, but is not a big fan of running, bringing us to the decision to get some bikes. She'll likely want something simple, but I'm looking for something a little sturdier (looking at some hard tails) that I can beat up on some trails for weekends when I don't have a rugby match. I've been perusing the forums for a few days now and this seems like a great community to learn from, so here I am! Also,I have a little sis that has become quite the avid street racer, so I figured after a few weeks here I might actually have a clue to the lexicon she's been speaking.

Hello ScrumHalf, where are you located? What bikes have you been looking at?

Thanks! I'm currently located in Orlando Florida, I've had my eye on a few of the Kona hard tails like the Fire Mountain or Lana'i, maybe a Blast. I've looked at some of the Bikesdirect stuff as well, the prices seem good and I've read plenty of threads on the pros/cons, but I'll probably stick to something I can try out first since I don't have a lot of knowhow yet.
