Hello from California

Thanks for supportin' the human-powered transportation everybody!

I've just begun my journey with this complex machine-- I'm hoping to eventually be able to take many biking tours, starting in the United States. Realistically, I think I will first ride my bicycle from Humboldt (my current home) to San Francisco and back. I'm riding a 2001 Schwinn Super Sport, my second road bike since my mid-90's Trek 1400. The Super Sport is stock with Shimano Sora brakes and derailleurs. The Super Sport serves as a simple everyday commuter; I didn't spend too much on it as my friend was simply trying to get rid of it before he left for the summer. Anyways, I'm looking to learn more about bike mechanics in general and, eventually, the perfect touring setup for my body (6'4 155lb).

Nice to meet you!

Hi Matt, your tour from Humboldt to SF and back sounds like a realistic proposition. At least you are familiar with the terrain and roads, so you are ahead of a lot of people who want to do a tour of the West Coast.

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !
