Novice in Seattle

Hello, I have been getting into road biking for the past few months, since a friend gave me an old bike he had to spare. I have progressed to the point where I can get myself just about anywhere in this hilly city on my bike. I have had a great time, and I have been learning about leg muscles I didn't know existed. I'm really interested in going on some rides with Cascade and meeting some cool people. Although I know I can get myself 45 miles further from where I started, I'm still a little worried about keeping up with people.

As I posted on the mechanic part of the forums, I'm rather devastated with the state of my bike right now. My frame is broken. But I hope I can get back into it really soon.

Member of Possum Lodge, eh?

Unfortunately, duct tape isn't going to help your frame . It can be welded (it's a steel bike), but unless you have someone who can do welding for free/cheap, it's going to cost more than it's worth.

Where are you in Seattle? I'm in Kent...

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

I live in Ballard, North Seattle.

It always brightens my day when I find people are fans of the Red Green show.

I suppose ill call around and see if any friends have any friends that weld.

When I first moved to Washington, in 1980, I wound up in Ballard. I was literally right across the street from the Ballard Hospital. I loved Ballard. But, it really sucks for getting around easily unless you want to stay in Ballard all the time.

My stay in Ballard coincided with my introduction to the Red Green show .
