Hey-o from Frisco

Nice to meet you all i'm a new rider to the streets of San Francisco.

I'm fairly new to riding, i just started riding last year. It was my major mode of transportation during college, and gradually it's becoming something i do to relax and enjoy myself. My first bike was an old nishiki 10 speed i bought from a guy at UC berkeley. Even though the frame's too small (i'm 6'3"), i've nursed that bike back to decent riding shape. It's my baby, and after a day of retaping my handles it was backed up into by a car. The back tires a bit bent. I'm wondering if it'd be a sin to put such a good friend to rest and start building a new bike. I'll pursue this in another forum, but that's my major back story. I look forward to reading and sharing a lot! Thanks,

MC from SF

Welcome to the Yay Area! I'm guessing you are not native as it is a sin for true San Franciscans to call SF, Frisco! Herb Caen would roll in his grave! hehe!

Anyway... be sure to visit the NorCal forum in the Regional Section. Lots of people from the Bay Area on there that are really cool and always willing to take a ride with ya!

As for your bike... if only the rim is bent then I'd check on Craigslist and find a cheapo one to replace it. Then you can get back on your bike!

TTYL,
Gary

Thanks Gary,

You're partially right, i'm not completely native, i'm originally from the east bay. I threw in the frisco because of the lame rhyme with heyo. Terrible, i know, but why not. Thanks for the suggestion, I'm checking craigslist now!

Hi Mark, which Nishiki do you have? Post some photos in the Classic & Vintage forum for the Nishiki lovers here (that would include me ).

I think Gary's suggestion is a good one--also, try asking in the ISO/WTB sticky in the C & V forum. There are quite a few C & Vers around you who may have a spare wheel relatively cheap...

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !
