Bike Obsessed/Seeking Therapy...
or at least people who share my sentiment.
Hola chicos and chicas! 31 year old from Chicago and totally consumed with finding a fixed speed. I teach by day, but between sentences, class discussions, during silent reading time, between classes, on the way home I'm clutching my Blackberry refreshing Craigslist pages hoping I'll find it. But, it so deftly alludes me. I do nothing but research classic lightweight conversions and their components and it has just about taken over ever moment of my waking hours. I knew nothing about bikes two weeks ago. Its an addiction. I ignore the eye strain, back aches, headaches, and hunger pangs because I simply must know whether an 80s-era Battaglin originally came with Campy components. Right Now. And what the hell my vintage Schwinn serial number really means. The information just doesn't stop!
At any rate, I need to walk the dogs. Thanks for listening.

Will you be hanging out in the fixed gear and single speed forum, or will I be seeing you in the Classic & Vintage forum?
Either way, welcome from another obsessed person (16 bikes in various stages of assembly at the moment).

^^^ LOL, I know, this will involve some tough forum posting decisions. I figure there's more that I don't know about fixed speeds so I'll probably be hanging around there more.
Thanks for the welcome. Catch you around.

Philly?
Hey, are you from Philly (I saw it in a link in your signature)? I lived there for eight years before I moved back to Chicago.
Germantown
University City
W. Philly
S. Philly
I was a bike messenger there. Copped my first road bike, a late 80s Trek, for like $80 bucks. Anyway, if you're not from Philly, then whatever. =D

We'll see you over there, along with photos of bikes.
