Did I REALLY get a bargain?!
Finally got back in the saddle (well, for a test ride anyway - waiting for my pedals to be delivered before I do anything proper) today after a 15-year absence from cycling. I used to have a Raleigh Record Sprint so the feel of carbon fibre bikes is like nothing I could have ever dreamed of...
So anyway, I made a massive saving on a brand-new road bike - Trek 5500 from 2004. Original price £2700 - on offer at £1100. Standard set-up - Dura-Ace throughout, Bontrager Race X Lite wheels and bars, Cane Creek headset, and a cheapo saddle (by the looks of it). Feels great and sure I'll love it.
But next to it was a 2007 Spesh Tarmac Pro - also originally £2700, but now down to £1600. So componentry's of a fairly similar standard, although not 100% Dura-Ace, but my question is - did I do the right thing? Has frame technology changed so much over 4/5 years that the Spesh would've been the best option? Or would I have just been paying an extra £500 for a much more attractively styled frame without any other benefits?
Look forward to your thoughts!

Sounds like you got a very good deal, but I would have gone with the Specialized Tarmac. But that's just my opinion.
