New here, from NJ

Just started biking again, about 10 days ago. I'm 28, a little out of shape, and decided that i'd get a cheapie from craigslist, to commute and get some exercise.

So i got a POS Walmart Schwinn "Carbon" Varsity. I know, i know, i was just planning on commuting with it and got it for less than 200.

Well, the first day i rode to work, 4 miles, all flat, and really started enjoying it.

So i bought a Giant TCR C3 that i got at my LBS for 1400, and am just finishing paying for it, as i don't want to put it on my CC.

I'm doing charity rides, and just generally riding, and have done 175 miles, in about 10 days.

Loving it!!

Welcome on board CJ. You might consider coming out to the Lancaster Covered Bridges Metric Century (in PA) on August 17. A lot of people from Bike Forums will be there, and it's a lot of fun! There's a thread on it in the Regional / Northeast forum.

100km is a little above my head at this point, but i am going to do the MS 2 day ride down the shore in September, and the ms100 in early September.

i did the MS100 when i was 16, 12 years ago.

At this point, i'm just trying to get my legs and breath back,

Just quit smoking 2 packs a day, after 10 years, 2 months without a smoke
Just (10 days) got a bike, and started riding again
Just started eating healthier, and more fruits and veggies.

Thanks for the invite, and i hope to meet some of you soon!!

Excellent - good for you !!! Do you have a double or triple set of chainrings on the Giant?
How's your average speed been?

Its a double chainring, but i don't even have it yet! i have a few more weeks to pay it off, but i have been averaging 15-17mph on the fake schwinn, that is 14 very poorly selected gears.

I am trying to do 20miles everyday, and slowly work up from there!

Welcome! Where in NJ are you?

You'll see a lot of BFers at the MS city-to-shore ride, including a bunch of us from the Clydesdale forums. Come say hi at the Commuting forum sometime.

I'm from north NJ, Riverdale, near Wayne.

I'm right now 5'8, 205, and can stand to lose about 30lbs, so thats my goal!

I will be stopping in all the forums, thanks for the welcome!

There are some of us doing the Lancaster ride that may be doing a shorter ride as well...

No pressure though!
