Hello

I have been lurking here for a while and thought it was time to sign up and say “Thanks” for the wealth of information that shows up on this forum. I’m old enough to remember the “Bike Boom” of the early ‘70s. My new bikes were a Varsity in ’69, a Super Sport in ’71 and a PX10 in ’72 all while living near Chicago. Those were crazy times to buy a lightweight (I hear you saying “Schwinn Lightweight???). Had to go up to Lake Geneva to find the Peugeot. I sold those bikes to pay for auto insurance in ’73 when I bought a Corvette a month into the first oil embargo.

It’s time for all the non-Schwinners to groan, I got the bike I really wanted in the ‘80s, a ’77 Paramount. Since then I added a few more old Schwinns and Raleighs to the garage. I’m very fortunate to be married to a woman who also enjoys vintage bikes. She's from Racine just like a lot of Paramounts.
