New guy, help anyone?
Hi everyone,
Well I don't have a bike just yet and I've been holding off on buying one just yet because I'm not to sure what type/ brand of bikes there is for what I'm looking for. I would like to buy a single speed or fixed gear bike, or one that has a flip flop hub on it so I can switch off between the two depending on what kind of riding I plan on doing. Can y'all help me out with showing me some model bikes?

BikesDirect Single Speeds
The link above is a nice, inexpensive start to the world of SS/FG riding. I personally own a 2005 Specialized Langster. Other types would be the Bianchi Pista (no brakes), the Bianchi San Jose (will fit fenders and larger tires), the Specialized TriCross (SS model), the Redline 9-2-5 (fenders included), and the Giant Bowrey (sloping top tube). The Surly Steamroller is also an option.
I still would love to have a San Jose because of the pure utility of that bike. You can do it up as a brakeless road fixed gear or set it up as a fendered, freewheeling, fat-tired commuter with panniers.

Hello Luis, the Langster is a nice starter bike, just be aware that you will have to put it together yourself (not that hard, really), or have a bike shop put it together for you.

thank you for the advice and the welcome, im from san jose CA. im not new to bikes in general, when i was younger i spent a lot of time dirt jumping and street riding on a bmx so putting bikes together is no problem for me. Ill take a look at those bikes while im sitting here at work.

PS i have also kept my eye on the Mercier kilo TT, I am 5 foot 9 and the people from the shop recommended that i get a 53cm model because my stand over height is about 31 inches i was wondering if i could get away with ordering a 50cm because they dont have any more 53's in stock at bikesdirect.com
