Hello from Michigan

Good Afternoon!
Just saying hi from Michigan. My son and I are into mountain biking, and get out as much as we can. I recently bought a Schwinn World Traveler that I am going to try and get working. My son wants a road bike as well, and when he gets one, him and I will start doing road trips as well as mountain biking.

Hello petflunky, what MTBs do the two of you have? And what kind of road bike is your son looking at?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

Thanks for the welcome! (and sorry for the tardy reply) My son has a Huffy mountain bike. It recently broke, but my wife bought the warranty, so he's going to get a NEW mountain bike. It has to be of similar value, but he's cool with it. I ride a GMC Topkick, which I really like due to the full suspension. I donated my old Raleigh M-30 to my sons friend, since his bike was falling apart. As for road bikes, I bought my son a GMC Denali 24" road bike. It was only $150. I couldn't justify 500-600 bucks for something he is going to outgrow in a year or two. The shifters are kind of funky, but he likes it. Tomorrow, weather allowing, we are going to go a ride at Island lake metro park. There are several miles of paved trails there, and he is itching to get out and really ride it. Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome

I'm up near Stockbridge, myself. Dinky little town, 25 miles from everywhere.
