Hello from TAMPA!
Hello everyone!
My name is Marlon Brown. I'm almost 39 (this Friday!). I'm married w/3 girls. I'm teaching the oldest two to ride. I've been riding since I came to Florida and got stuck here in 1990. I work for the Dept of Children & Families, and I am a mobile dj.
I used to do alot of MS 150's and stuff like that. I've been off the bike for a while, but I've gotten back on and I'm working on building up the miles and challenging myself again. I have a 14 year old Trek 1400, but I may trade that in for something else. My cycling goals this year:
1. Ride faster.
2. Ride in the Bike Across Florida in Novemer 2008.
3. Not get swept off the course in BAF 2008.
4. RAAM?
I look forward to sharing my challenges with you all during the next few months.
Thanks!
-Marlon

Hello all,
Here's an update on my progress (or lack thereof). My oldest child can now confidently ride a bike around the neighborhood. Soon we will head out to the trail near my home and see how she does. My middle daughter has made a few timid forays onto her bike without training wheels. That's not going so well. She's really afraid, but we'll keep working on it. My youngest just learned to walk, so she's a couple years away from her first case of road rash.
As for me, my training has been curtailed due to injuries. First I twisted my ankle BAD at work. That sidelined me for 6 weeks. Then, a couple weeks after that healed I have a problem with pains and numbness shooting down my left arm. I think it's a pinched nerve. I'm heading to the chiropractor next week to get it checked out.
Once I get past this issue, I'll be back on the bike! I've gotten a Hammer Nutrition catalog and I'm looking to order some of their products. I'm really looking forward to training. At this point though, I don't know if I'll be able to make the BAF this year. We'll see......
Oh, and I still have the Trek. I have seen a nice Motobecane on ebay. I might look into that when I get the money.
