    Introduction

    So....... Hello
I'm 54 and started to ride last year to loose some weight. I had not been on a bike for 30 years and my wife expected me to have a heart attack.
We live in Vermont and are out in the foothills of Camels Hump. Many people come to this area to ride as it offers a good mix of terrian and the veiws are stellar.
I started with a lawn sale special MTD 10 speed mountian bike that weighed a ton and promptley informed my wife that if riding that bike for a month in the shape I was in didn't kill me, I was probably not going to have a heart attack.
Next was an old GT flea market find. I had learned a little about bikes and knew this would be a step up and it was. A light bike with a pretty decent 21 speed drivetrain.
A month ago I got a 2006 Gary Fisher Wahoo Disk rode it until three days ago when I sold it.
I decided I wanted a lighter bike with road tires so I am anxiousley awaiting the delivery of my new Kona Dew FS .
My riding consists of 12-14 miles per trip and I average 85 miles a week.
I ride a mix of dirt and paved roads with typical Vermont hills and valleys.
I'm shooting for 1,000 miles this season with 485 on the clock now. And here I am bikeless.

Hi yankee peddler, it's encouraging to know that you survived the initial foray, and in fact, blossomed into full cyclist mode. Why did you sell the Wahoo after having it only one month?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

    weight and components

I don't know about blossomed I'd say huffed&puffed would be more like it.
I'm sure that after a ride the word blossom would never come to mind to describe my aura.
The two main reasons for moving on from the Fisher where the weight of the frame and the components.
The Wahoo is a fantastic mountian bike that is aimed at the price point buyer.
What it has is very comfortable solid design and in order to price it the way they do it has E 350 shifters,Alivio derailers ect.
All of witch leaving you wanting to upgrade.
So I had a chance to sell it at a little profit and order a bike that I hope will be a closer match to my riding style.....a wheechair HA HA Actually I have a Kona Dew FS on the way.
A pleasure to hear from you and happy trails!

If the blossom is Amorphophallus titanum , then it could still be an apt description .

Ok, the Dew FS is definitely an upgrade.
