Just startin out

Hello,
Back in December I decided I needed to get out and get movin. The usual reasons: Get off the couch, get healthy, have fun. I didn't know which bike to buy so I decided I would buy a cheap road/dirt until I could decide. Now I have gone GREEN and take the bus to work. The bus rack is full with bikes so I must lock it at the bus stop. Now I think I want to buy a folding bike to take it with me on the bus. So now I'm starting my research into folding bikes.

Have fun,

Welcome to BF.

Why lock your bike at the bus stop? Is the distance from home to work too far to ride?

Either jsharr's suggestion, or the folder would work.

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) !

Yes Ron, the ride to work is 15 miles with hills. I'd be too sweaty to ride in the morning. I have done the ride home about ten times because the bus rack had a spot in the morning yet going home it was full. When I ride home from work I'm usually too tired to do anything else that night.

After a month or so, you would get home feeling great! I know I do...and yes, I've got some big hills here.

Agreed! Although my only "hill" is an overpass over the train station, the ramp is a doozie, as well as the bridge itself (Krakow's category 4 hill?). In any case, I haven't ridden for a good 15 years, and after only a week, I'm not only cranking it up the hill without dropping down to my lowest, but I'm getting home 5 minutes faster. I was shocked how fast I got back some of my form. Granted, in my case, it may be simply a matter of getting my cadence back, but I can feel it in my breathing and my muscles as well. If I were you, I would try to make it a practice of riding home a couple/three days a week, and see if it helps.
