    TDF question

There is still one stage left in the TDF, but the broacasters on Versus are saying that Carlos Sastre has won the TDF. Cadel Evans is only one minute and change back with an 88 mile last stage to go. Isn't it still possible for Evans to make up that minute and win the tour? I thought I heard the broadcasters say that the Yellow jersey leader isn't attacked on the final stage. Is that true? I don't think that is right. If you can challenge on the last stage, you should be able to.

Not at all, the peloton has too much respect for the yellow jersey and would immediately attack and negate any solo attack from a contender.

I've had several since 1999 but have settled on my beloved 2001 Litespeed Tuscany and my latest, a 2013 Cannondale CAAD 10.

Tradition and history prevent any "upset" on the last stage.

It is trradition not to attack ont the last day. Not to say it has not been done. Its just that the time gap would have to be much closer.

So, does this question mean that we can look forward to seeing a StephenA in the next few years challenging the yellow jersey on the last stage, to snatch the win?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

    No to the challenge.

    East Hill,

Hi. You have me laughing with your comment! I ride mainly for the exercise to stay in shape. But seriously, if the leader after stage 20 has a small lead on the next rider, why shouldn't he be able to be attacked and let the best man win? You're right though, if I were in the TDF I might set a precedent by attacking the leader!
