I'll be going off to college soon, living on campus, and I thought that a bike would be pretty convenient for the next four years on campus. After a few weeks of salivating at the thought of getting a new bike, since it's been years since I last rode a bike, I finally got a bike two months ago, along with a large rear rack, a lock, lights (although I doubt I'd be riding in the dark very much at all), and a helmet. And now, I'm completely hooked on biking!
I often ride around my neighborhood just for fun, with no particular destination. I've even gotten my friends into biking, and we all just ride around to random places, enjoying the breeze and exercise and fresh air.
But of course, we're all still complete newbs at biking. I don't know a thing about the mechanics, the pieces, and how to properly take care of a bike. Well, I know how to remove the front wheel and release the breaks... that's probably it. I must know more!
Before I bought my bike, I thought that the bicycles were pretty much obsolete, because I never hear a thing about bikes, and I barely see them around anyway. I guess I was wrong, because the community is quite alive.
So, here I am, to learn and be part of the bicycling community. I'll probably lurk for a while, till I can actually post and know what I'm talking about.
