Word up from Phoenix AZ

I bid everyone a very fond hello. I have recently decided to start cycling for a combination of exercise and to assist me in my commute to work. I purchased a Scott Sportster and really enjoy it (so far). I haven't actively ridden a bike in about 10 years so I am a little rusty. The commute isn't too bad, I ride ~1 mile to a bust stop, then ~3 to work. That may not seem like a lot to most of you, but for me who has been largely inactive also for about 10 years it is a good start. Today was my first day and whereas more challenging than I had first anticipated, not at all impossible, and rather quite enjoyable. I figure if I can do it in August I can do it anytime. Look forward to learning a lot!

Hi instantsneaker, yes, you are doing well if you can handle the August heat in PHX. I know here in the Puget Sound I have to be careful heading up hills on days like today (very hot for us) or I will get a migraine .

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !
