Getting back into riding in West Michigan

Hi all,
I'm just getting back into riding. I have arthritis in my lower back and neck so my road bike hasn't been used much. I just put money down on a recumbant bike after talking at length with a 68 year old who had similar issues 10 years ago and the recumbant has allowed him to ride as much as he wants. What really impressed me was that his riding partner is 80 and they have done long tours on their recumbents.
I did give my road bike one last chance and after 5 miles my neck, wrists and elbows were killing me. I can ride my mountain bikes more comfortably if its not too rough. I live in the Muskegon area and will be looking for some interesting riding routes soon.
Thanks for a great site,
Volvo Tom

First rides

Hi East Hill,
I bought a Sun Speedster my lbs had sitting in the back for a while and got a great deal on it. I understand this model is out of production, but it seems fine to me, heavy yes, but so am I. I rode an hour both Saturday and Sunday- no pain but my knees at first. I'm working at getting the seat adjusted best. I'm also considering shorter cranks- I have 170mm now.

It sounds as if you have a bit of tweaking to do on the bike. Enjoy your riding!
