I am a newbie to this whole biking thing. I really liked it when I was younger with my department store bike but now that I am older I want to get serious about doing it. I am 27 years old and I would be classified as a clydesdale at 220 lbs. I have a Specialized Rockhopper. I chose that bike because I read that it is a good starter bike to get your feet wet. I bought the bike in 2006 and barely used it. It sat in storage for 2007 (yes I was lazy ) but this year I decided to break it out again. I enjoy riding it to work because it is six miles one way and a very nice warm up for my legs before class ( I'm a karate instructor.)
Quick story, I just registered for this site today and after getting pumped up reading some different stories I proceeded to go out for a ride. That is when my reality check happened. I was attempting to ride above my abilities and climb a gravel path when I fell. The fall was minor but I did crack the screen on my phone. After deciding to turn around and head back I made it about 75 feet and my chain broke on my bike. I had to call for a ride home because I have not gotten around to getting a multi tool yet to try to fix those things (I know, I know not to bright am I it has since now that I am home. ) I noticed that I broke some teeth on my chainring too. I thought that was kinda humorous. A nice little add on to the broken chain.
Sorry for the scattered post.
