Greetings from Fresno

Hello everyone, I'm Tom from Fresno in California's Central Valley. I'm just getting back into cycling. After commuting to work a couple of times on my late 80's Trek 1000 road bike, I decided to get something a little more comfortable for the bumpy roads I have to travel. I picked up a great looking black 2008 Kona Jake last week and am looking forward to commuting on it this week. The folks at Rubber Soul Bicycles are great, we spent quite a long time getting the fit just right and that makes all the difference in the world in being comfortable and efficient on the bike. As far as other interests, I enjoy sailing, hiking, camping and backpacking.

Welcome. Glad to hear you are biking to work. Check out the Commuting forum for good info from others who commute.

As you are just getting into cycling for transportation, you might be interested in my getting started series at

Tom, I applaud you and your determination to bicycle commute in Fresno. It would be way too hot for me to even think about doing that in Fresno (I remember being there one day years ago when it was 115 degrees )...
