Hello BikeForum members.
I'm Joe and I've recently given up driving my car, and it's great! I've been riding my old, late '60s(ish) Schwinn Super Sport to and from school every day this semester (22-23miles round trip) and I've cut down my time considerably. What used to be a ~20min car ride or a 60min bike ride has turned into a 42-45min bike ride, and for free! Twice the commuting time, but it's free and good for me as long as I manage my time efficiently.
I'm also a unicyclist, but since I can't comfortably ride that distance on a 20" wheel (my 28" is broken
) I seem to have migrated to the road bike. I've had a few flat tires (my fault, not the best installation), a lady ran a stop sign and hit me the other morning (low impact, gave me $50 and a ride to school), and I need a new rear derailleur (old bike), but this biking way of life if much easier for me. I don't have to drive people around or pay for gas, and everything I need is in town, so this seems to work.
I have a couple of questions, but I'll direct those to the appropriate sub-forums.
