I live to ride! ...and ride to live, of course.
Hey all! My name is Dave and I found out about this awesome site through fellow bodyweightculture.com member Amit_Shah25.
I commute 23 minutes a day at 23 kph to get to and from work, not very far compared to some people, but still keeps me in good shape in addition to my regular workouts. I ride a 23" 2008 Specialized Rock Hopper 29er, and I love it, but I need to find a beater for the harsh Canadian winter coming soon. I rode my Norco Rival through it all last year, and now the poor thing needs $350 of work just to be *almost* road worthy!!! :( Any suggestions on a cheap but rugged winter ride would be most appreciated! :) |
Welcome.
Cheap and rugged can't be used in the same sentence. ;) Try craigslist to find a bike you can build up to meet your expectations. Or stop by the Commuting forum and Winter Cycling forum for ideas/suggestions. |

Hey guys, thanks for the welcome and the suggestions. I just checked craigslist and there are no bikes available in my area right now. :(
I appreciate the offer East Hill! We have a good shop in town that might be able to help me out. I need a 22-23" frame, so it's almost as tough to find a bike as it is to find pants that fit (tall thin guy). |
Bummer about non-availability, but things do come up in a flash on CL. Sometimes you have to be up early in the mornings to catch one before someone else snags a gem, too!
