Newbie from The Heart of America
Greetings from The Heart of America, AKA The Barbecue Capital of the World, Kansas City, Kansas. I am a rookie cyclist looking to learn what it would take to become a bicycle commuter as well as bicycle for profit and to help promote a cleaner environment. I have a Diamondback Windwood Citi bicycle, which is a full suspension bicycle that is a cross between a comfort and a cruiser. I was recently laid off due to company downsizing, and the gas bill for my car is getting to be a burden, but I still have college to attend, and college is a 20-mile commute, but my stamina isn't anywhere near good enough to ride that far. Any help, tips, and advice would be most appreciated.

Hello mnaines, you must have discovered the Commuting Forum by now, but the most logical thing to do is to try to ride part way, and take public transportation the rest of the way. Is the 20 miles round trip, or one way?
