New guy, from Santa Cruz, CA

Hi,
I just registered. My wife is shopping for a 3 speed light cruiser, and that got me poking around the internet, and that led me here. I'm having so much fun shopping for her bike that I might get one of my own. I suppose that happens all the time. I already have a "vintage" Trek road bike (730, bought new in '83), and a Gary Fisher Tassajara just three or four years ago. I might sell one of them and buy an 8 speed Electra Townie that's available second hand. I'm getting older, with back, hip, and knee problems. The upright position for around town seems like a fine idea.

Cheers,
Dan

Here's a picture as requested. It's a 22.5" 730 that I bought new in 83 from Palo Alto Bicycles. A decade or so ago I set it up for commuting, but I'm in the process of reversing that now. I still have the original drop bars and brake levers. Everything else is original except the seat and rims. The original rims wore out so I had the same shop lace some Mavics onto the original Campagnolo hubs. Suntour derailleur, NGC brakes.

Used to live in SC County. I was outside Scotts Valley so a triple chainring got me up onto the mountain roads. You live in one of the best places in the world.
