Hello from Connecticut

Hello,
I'm new to the forum and new to "serious" cycling.
I bought a Centurion Iron Man Master for $60 and immediately went on a 20 mile ride. I like having an old classic to baby and try to restore. It's mechanically sound although I broke a shifter cable already. The paint is rough and was botched by a can of white Rust-O-leum. I want to ride it these next couple of months in CT and take it in for an overhaul this winter.

It's a great sport and hobby. At 47, it's also a preventative maintenance health plan! As I get up to speed (no pun intended) I want to look for groups that are doing weekend rides and I'll also be scouring e-bay for replacement parts...

Hi There!

Welcome to Bike Fourms! CT has lots of great places to ride from April - Mid November. I lived there until this past Spring. What part of the state do you love in?

Thanks... I "love" and live on the shoreline in Milford. lol
It's a bit crowded on the main roads but there are back roads that take you along the water... I need a bike carrier to take me inland - especially in the Northwest corner during fall.

Thanks East Hill.. that's a great idea - I will post pictures of it. A before and after kind of thing! I should've taken pictures when I got it. I literally spent hours scaping paint overspray off of the crank and frame plus removing years of gunk off of the chain and gears. Looks sooo much better now!

Welcome to the forum! I'm sure there are other "Connecticut Yankees" you can hook up with for local rides. I don't know your area that well since I'm from north-central MA, but there's gotta be others in your area to ride with. Post in the regional section here and you might be able to find some riding companions!
