Major Newbie - haven't been on a bike in 20 years. Just bought a old Miyata trailrunn

What they say is true -- "you never forget how to ride". I was a bit wobbly but no problem.

Even though I have an old road bike that is way older than 20 years, while looking at the cracked rubber tires, I decided I needed something more current. I bought a stock Miyata TrailRunner with an aluminum frame yesterday. I think it's circa 1993. At least the original owner says it's 15 years old. Everything on this bike seems to be Shimano Deore LX.

I plan on staying on the road mostly and I want to commute to work on the days that I don't have to run errands and pick the kids up. That is the plan but I have a habit of going into things full out. I will try to avoid what I call "the mod bug" as much as possible and keep the bike stock, except I'm already thinking of replacing the tires with something more appropriate for road use maybe some fenders…

I'll be posting in the appropriate sub forum asking for more info about my bike. Here is a picture of the bike.

Hey Paul, that's a nice looking Miyata! What's the older road bike you've got?

Oh, and where are you located?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

Thanks for the welcome and the compliment on my "new to me" bike.

I am not sure what the older road bike is. It was bought more than 20 years ago from a police auction.

There is only one decal on it and it says "Made in France", I can't find any serial numbers etc. It has a "custom" crank and suntour derailleurs, dia-comp brakes, Michelin tires. I think I might post pictures and ask for help on this bike in the vintage forum.

I'm in southern Ontario, close to Toronto.

Paul.

Yes, please put up photos in C & V--you'd be amazed at how good the guys are at identifying bikes!
